The future is here with new technology in skin resurfacing with the MiXto SX. This incorporates both new and old methods that results in attractive, smooth, and wrinkle-free skin. Combining the power of carbon dioxide lasers with "quadrant" fractional technology and a more tightly focused beam, the MiXto SX laser delivers uniform tissue ablation to the dermis. This causes immediate contraction and tissue tightening, leaving you with a beautifully clear face.

A secondary effect is the rapid production of new collagen over the next six to twelve weeks. This improves skin elasticity and restores a more youthful appearance. This advanced technology delivers powerful results without the harsh side effects and recovery time of traditional CO2 resurfacing, known to be the "gold standard" of wrinkle removal.

How it Works

The MiXto SX gives us the ability to carefully regulate the depth of penetration and the amount of heat delivered by the beam. This high-speed scanner is driven by a patent-pending algorithm that divides the treatment area into four quadrants or "fractions". This skips the beam from quadrant to quadrant so that each strike is separated by the longest possible interval. The process is repeated until the entire area is treated. Dividing the laser energy this way allows maximum time for thermal cooling of the tissue, less pain for the patient, and a faster recovery.

Are You a Good Candidate?

Here is the amazing part: even patients with a darker skin complexion such as Hispanic, Asian, and can be treated with this laser. It is ideal for acne scarring and deep pigmentation unresponsive to topical agents and peels.

Possible Risks

Just like any other surgery, there are some risks involved with the MiXto SX micro fractional resurfacing laser. Because only about 20 percent of the skin is "ablated", the risk of scarring and depigmentation are drastically reduced. Prophylactic antibiotics and anti-viral medication reduce the risk of infection. Allow Dr. A. David Rahimi to go over these with you during a complimentary consultation.

Procedure Information

This process only takes about 60 minutes and can be performed in our office. We usually apply a thick layer of topical anesthesia (EMLA cream) 30 minutes before the procedure. A small amount of pain medication or Valium can also be prescribed to make the procedure more comfortable.

The MiXto SX can be used on the facial skin, as well as on the neck, chest, arms, and hands to reduce scarring and discolorations secondary to sun or trauma. You will also get the benefit of receiving this laser surgery by an experienced and board-certified dermatologist and cosmetic surgeon, Dr. A. David Rahimi.
